a leader must also have faith in the people she is to lead
to see good in them and raise them to higher achievement
through praise not condemnation, encouragement not criticism

Rt Rev'd Martyn Snow, Bishop of Leicester

Alderman Newton Educational Foundation

Alderman Newton’s Educational Foundation makes grants to both individuals and schools for a wide range of educational activities.

Individuals – The Foundation provides grants for educational activities, including social and physical training, to persons in need of financial assistance, who are under the age of 25 years and who are, or one or more of their parents are, normally resident in the City of Leicester.

Schools - The Foundation provides grants to any maintained Church of England or other maintained schools within the City of Leicester or any other Church of England School in the Diocese of Leicester. Grants can be awarded for projects of any kind that would not normally be provided for by the local education authority. Applicants should be mindful that the Governors are required by charity law not to fund equipment or costs that would normally be met from the school budget set by the local education authority
