About our CPD Events:

The CPD programme for 2017 – 2018 builds on the programme of events from last year to support schools and academies across a range of disciplines. The programme of CPD aims to support the DBE’s vision, of ‘Transforming the lives of children and young people’. Through being:

Effective: As a result of visionary leadership and inspirational teaching, children and young people in the Diocese of Leicester achieve excellence. They are well-rounded and confident with a strong sense of self-worth. As learners transformed, they in turn transform their communities.

Distinctive: Unequivocally Christ-like, our schools offer children and young people the opportunity to hear the Christian response to life’s big questions. Christian Worship is invitational, offering the whole school community an opportunity for renewal and to encounter the person of Jesus Christ. Religious Education is exemplary, enabling a genuine understanding of the role of faith and belief in modern society.

Rooted: Our schools are rooted in prayer, partnership with parish and wider community and the teachings of Jesus Christ. Children and young people receive excellent Religious Education equipping them with a firm knowledge of the Christian faith and other key faiths.

Inclusive: Like Jesus himself, our schools are ‘scandalously inclusive’. Children and families from all faiths and none are welcomed, respected and cherished. Serving the community in which they are placed, our schools exemplify, ‘love your neighbour’. Commitment to working collaboratively, inclusive – events are open to community schools too – to be promoted through TSA networks.

The CPD Programme will provide support to:

School leaders, including governors

RE Practitioners

NQTs

RE Coordinators

Early Years Practitioners and Leaders

As well as pupils through the spring day conferences.

CofE Foundation for Educational Leadership

We are delighted that Leicester will be involved in the work of the Church of England’s Foundation for Educational Leadership from this autumn. The Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership is a partnership of schools, diocese, universities and others dedicated to supporting the development of leaders in education working a vision for education based on a Christian view of 'life in all its fullness' (John 10:10). Schools within the diocese are invited to get involved in the Foundation’s work, which offers Peer Support Networks (from autumn 2017) and a leadership programme for aspiring headteachers (the CofEPQH) starting in January 2018. There will also be a regional conference and other opportunities.
